Great to learn to lock pick
I have always wanted to learn how to pick a lock as I am always forgetting/losing my keys.
This set comes with lots of different tools which is great to find the sort of tool you find that works best for you. The clear locks provided give you a good understanding of how the lock works and gives you a good grounding of how to pick locks and was really good to have different types as you need to pick them slightly differently. There a plenty of videos on youtube that will teach you how to pick..
I found being able to see the pins really helped my progress to understand how much pressure I needed to put. After a very short time I was able to consistently pick the clear locks, I then moved on to trying to find any padlock I could find and although normal padlocks I found were more difficult as different locks require different pressure and techniques but I was able to undo all the padlocks with a bit of perseverance. (the more you practice the better you get).
I then moved on to the back door which after about 20mins of picking worryingly I found I could pick the lock reliably in under 20 seconds. The picking tools come in a nice little wallet, everything is really good quality.
Lots of items and good quality
I bought this when it was reduced to twenty pounds. The wallet and the contained set of pick items are all perfectly good quality. The pouch is a little larger than I expected but I can’t list this as a complaint. I was expecting the type of smallish wallet you see people using in the movies whereas this is something that would totally fill a rear jeans pocket
I’ve only had a quick play so far on the practice padlock and within 2 minutes or so I did get it open. I have yet to try it on a “real” lock but the picks totally feel up to the job. Big selection, they feel comfortable/grippy, and they seem thinnit strong enough to do the job.
It comes with some instructions but these were near to useless. But I know there are lots of YouTube videos properly explaining who to learn from these types of kits so the poor instructions did not warrant knocking off a star. It feels like a good value kit and each of the 4 practice locks come in a nice separate plastic case. For twenty quid think of it as a fun set of puzzles but you develop some skills that may one day really help you out.
