Well written book and nice little kit
This is an excellent little starter set. The set comes with a bunch of lock picking tools, a practice padlock, key and a really well written guide on how to get started. The guide is really excellent. It's quite thick and a little bit daunting at first when you just want to get started, but it's written in a conversational, relaxed style and there are numerous colour illustrations and 3D diagrams to help explain the concepts. It's really breezy to get through and never feels like a chore, starting right from very beginner and explaining the 'why' as well as the 'how' for all the steps. I was able to pick the practice lock in the box after about 15 minutes of reading, at about the half way point of the book. Everything after that was advanced techniques which you can then move onto should you wish. Top marks for the included book.
The tools themselves come in a nice little pouch and you get a good collection of basic starter tools. They're quite flimsy but I assume they're meant to be for picking these types of locks. Really it's a nice little kit, and great for starting out, though I'm sure if you enjoy this sort of logic puzzle type hobby, you'll probably soon invest in more tools.
As a starter kit this is really enjoyable. For anyone that likes logic puzzles or has a curious mind that likes to figure out how things work, this would make a perfect little gift or thing to buy yourself as a nice way to kill time. I love working out how things work the way they do and I found it a really fun introduction to something I'd otherwise never really have tried. I'd seen youtube videos on lock picking before and always figured I'd enjoy it, but actually getting to give it a go has been great fun and I definitely would recommend it over another boring sudoko or whatever. This kit has everything to get you going and as mentioned, the book is a great introduction, well written and thought out.

Cheap kit, but it did the job... managed to pick the padlock withoit much hastle... if I can domit, anyone can!

Listen, I bought this 30-piece lock picking set purely for educational purposes. You know, to understand the mechanics of locks… and definitely not because I locked myself out of the bathroom that one time and had to climb through a window in my underwear while my neighbor watched with quiet disappointment.
First impressions: This kit comes with so many tools I felt like the MacGyver of questionable life decisions. Hooks, rakes, tension wrenches—stuff I didn’t know existed but now can’t live without. I still don’t know what half of them do, but I look extremely competent while poking them at things.
The included practice lock is transparent, so you can see all the inner workings like some kind of lock-picking MRI. Honestly, it made me feel like Sherlock Holmes if Sherlock was a bit less deductive and a bit more “let’s see what this pokey thing does.”
Within a few hours, I was unlocking stuff I didn’t even need to. Suitcases, padlocks, the tiny diary I found from middle school (spoiler: still embarrassing). I may have even unlocked a new personality trait: mildly chaotic, but resourceful.
WARNING: This kit may give you false confidence and lead to you attempting to pick locks that aren’t yours. Like your office supply cabinet. Or your neighbor’s shed. Don’t do it. Be cool. Be lock-sporty, not lock-shady.
Great value, tons of fun, and now I’m the person everyone calls when they lose their keys. My time has come.
Did the job in seconds
I had a padlock I'd lost the key to and grabbed this in the hope of being able to open it. Using some rudimentary knowledge from a YouTube video (Lock Noob FTW) I had it open within seconds. That probably says more about the quality of the lock than my skills, but still...
